Therapy Exercise Rehab
Why are specific movements called therapy exercise tailored to your specific needs so important? We here at Elizabethton Chiropractic along with Dr. Howard Dennis’ 37 years of practical experience and 22 years of clinical experience know. When you’ve lost your ability to function due to pain and struggle through your daily life, you may start believing that this is the way life is. You may feel I’m destined to be this way. We know specific movements are exactly the essential nutrient your joints, body, brain and mind need to get well.
Many find the everyday tasks of life cause discomfort for them and has limited them from enjoying their personal life, excelling at work, improving their golf game, upping their home exercise program or even experiencing the simple joys of life. As those issues persist you may have considered pain medications, surgery or you’re already on that road to relieve the pain. However, your Elizabethton Chiropractic team and Dr. Howard W. Dennis have some great news for you!
Instead of invasive methods and dangerous medications, we at Elizabethton Chiropractic and Dr. Howard Dennis incorporate specialized Therapy Exercise treatments tailored for your specific spinal needs and for your pain relief. Our exercise programs are not only designed to help with pain relief, but also to locate the problem area, help keep the pain from returning later and establish your brain body connection again. When you’ve injured yourself or simply feel discomfort in the body, the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Matter of fact, when we and our joints stop moving, our brains literally start to shrink, and our joints start to die, decay and degenerate because movement is an essential nutrient for our brain and joints of our body. This is serious! Lack of movement has long term repercussions in our joints and brain! Thus, our body needs movement to help heal itself, feed our joints, reconnect, activate our brain, and this is where we at Elizabethton Chiropractic and Dr. Howard Dennis come in. The treatment programs in our office are chosen based on your specific diagnosis, x-rays and mobility. The exercises are based on specialized movements to target your problem and pain to get your most wanted relief and provide lasting relief!
We also know that the body needs movement to help it function normally and decrease pain. Our therapy is less “exercise” and more simple and distinct “movements” to target specific pillars of the body. These pillars consist of the upper body, middle of the body and lower body. These pillars are connected by groups of muscles, connective tissue, fascia and nerve patterns that flow horizontally, vertically and transverse. These pillars of the body should work together in unison. Dr. Howard Dennis and Elizabethton Chiropractic realize that many people don’t like the word “exercise,” but think of this whole process as moving, reconnecting and establishing life and blood flow again.
Focusing on getting these glitches out of the body through specific movements & adjustments is essential for complete recovery. Studies show that doing just movements or just adjustments separately is not as effective as combining the two. Pain reduction is accomplished through firing mechanoreceptors which are receivers or receptors of movement which are larger than the smaller receivers or receptors of pain called nociceptors. Both receivers of movement and pain use the same nerve tract. Thus, when the larger mechanoreceptors are stimulated with specific movements, they override the smaller pain nociceptors which both use the same nerve tract. This process reduces pain. Thankfully Dr. Howard W. Dennis and his licensed Elizabethton Chiropractic Therapy Assistants called CTA’s understand this neurologic process and will guide you to recovery along the way.
When Elizabethton Chiropractic and Dr. Howard Dennis’ team of Chiropractic Therapy Assistants (CTA’s) initiate your specifically tailored therapy exercise program, it’s in your best interest to stay with it and complete it with the intention of getting the glitches in your nerve system worked out therapeutically while re-educating your nervous system, restoring function, improving brain function, increasing blood flow, regaining stability and decreasing pain. We’ll work alongside you. We will make sure you understand your movements and their health benefits. You may be worried that you do not have the time or the ability to stick to your movement program. You don’t have to worry anymore. Your movements that we teach are basic, completed in minutes and easily incorporated into your busy life.
These movements are the building blocks to get your body and your health back on the right track. Dr. Howard W. Dennis and the Elizabethton Chiropractic Therapy Assistants will initially examine you.
